Kim Nelson is the Director of the Humanities Research Group and an Associate Professor of Cinema Arts in the School of Creative Arts at the University of Windsor in Canada. A filmmaker whose work has been screened internationally by film festivals and broadcasters, she holds a PhD in Media Studies from the Film University of Babelsberg Konrad Wolf in Germany. She has held fellowships at New York University, The University of Windsor, and the Film University of Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. She directs the Live Doc Project and Moving Histories Network. Her creative and scholarly work has been generously supported by several provincial and federal funding agencies, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Canadian Ministry of Heritage. She is the author and co-editor of books and articles about historical film, expanded and live cinema. Her most recent book is Making History Move: Five Principles of the Historical Film. (Rutgers, 2024)
